Symmetry, Solitude and Surveillance: An Inquiry into the Authentic Moment, the Aesthetic and the Panopticon Presented by Laura Campbell, LMHC
This presentation examines an architectural design of
a prison called a Panopticon, and French philosopher Michel Foucault’s analysis
of panopticism on those who find themselves in one of these places, which is
all of us.
Christopher Bollas’ description of the extraordinary
Aesthetic Moment will be explored as well as the possibility of such moments
occurring in extreme circumstances and places, which is everywhere and all of the time.
Laura Campbell is in private practice at Mass Bay Counseling in Easton, MA. Her previous position was as expressive therapy coordinator at Quincy Medical Center.
